'For streaming obscene content': Govt blocks five OTT platforms; action under IT Rules 2021

NEW DELHI: The authorities connected Tuesday blocked 5 OTT platforms for streaming “obscene content,” officials said. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed that entree to MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu beryllium blocked, pursuing owed procedure, according to officials. Under this procedure, net work providers are instructed to restrict entree to platforms that interruption the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and laws prohibiting obscene content. These rules are designed to “maintain nationalist decency, safeguard nationalist interests, and enforce ethical journalistic practices” crossed integer media.
